On 16 September 2025, WWF Adria organised the Croatian and Montenegrin National Focus Group of the GreenList4MMPAs project in Pasadur, on the island of Lastovo.
The meeting brought together participants representing the “Javno preduzeće za upravljanje morskim dobrom Crne Gore” (Montenegro), National Park Brijuni, Javna ustanova “Priroda” Šibensko-kninske županije (Croatia), Croatian members of the Mediterranean EAGL, and WWF Adria.
Participants were divided into two working groups, each facilitated by a member of the Mediterranean EAGL and supported by a WWF Adria representative. The groups reviewed a selection of Indicators identified as priorities in the stakeholder questionnaire, focusing on Croatia and Montenegro.
Discussions focused on refining and clarifying the Guidance Notes for these Indicators and adapting them to the Adriatic context, taking into account local management challenges and specificities. The exchange of experiences underscored the importance of regional cooperation in developing a consistent Mediterranean framework for effective Marine Protected Area (MPA) management.
Through this participatory process, the GreenList4MMPAs project continues to empower MPA managers and strengthen marine governance, contributing to the long-term protection of the Adriatic’s natural heritage and the well-being of coastal communities.
